Alaba Update: Rummenigge appeals for discretion, Salihamidzic says Austrian's agent "thinks in alternate dimensions"

The FCB still doesn't necessarily speak with one voice on the controversial matter of David Alaba's contract demands,

Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, in a Thursday interview with German broadcaster DAZN, admonished former Bayern sporting director Uli Hoeneß for controversial comments made on the ongoing David Alaba contract negotiations.

"I don't think we needed that," Rummenigge disclosed in the interview. "In my experience, negotiations need to be conducted discreetly and in confidence," he added, "Only when one has a result to report should one go public."

Rummenigge acknowledged that the negotiations "would not be easy". "It cannot be in Bayern's best interest to leak sensitive internal information like this to the public," Rummenigge noted, "Too much has been said by both sides this week. I can only repeat myself. Negotiations must be discreet in order to achieve a positive result in the end."

In spite of this tone, current Bayern Sporting Director Hassan Salihamidzic remained rather unrestrained when discussing Alaba's agent Pini Zahavi. "Zahavi is thinking in alternate dimensions," Hoeneß's replacement said in a Thursday interview with German footballing magazine Kicker, "but we won't follow him there. We won't do the crazy things he's familiar with from other clubs."
