UEFA's plan, when compared to other current European capacity quotas, constitutes an ambitious goal. In addition to the high numbers, UEFA seeks to hold the first live European sports event in which traveling fans are allowed to attend a match. Super Cup participants Bayern München and FC Sevilla were allocated 3,000 tickets apiece.

According to Bayern, approximately 2,100 FCB fans have purchased a ticket for Thursday's fixture. When tickets were initially set on sale, the club announced that traveling fans would be entitled to free corona tests at the Munich airport. On Monday, Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that supporters will also be given free screenings upon their return from Hungary.

Bayern head-coach Hans Dieter Flick has reported feeling somewhat disquieted concerning the requirement that his club participate in the match. "It's a matter that one doesn't entirely understand," Flick told reporters after his side's opening Bundesliga match against on Schalke on Friday, "We are not the ones making the decisions. Others make the decisions."

Bayern Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), who last week forbade Bayern from welcoming fans to Allianz in the season opener, told Bayerischer Rundfunk radio that he is considering stricter quarantine measures for his state. Söder did emphasize that no fans who spend less than 48 hours in Hungary will be subjected to them.

The Bavarian Minister-President nevertheless cautioned Bayern fans from traveling to a "high risk area". "Everyone should think very carefully about whether they want to go there," he said, later adding, "I have a lot of [agitated] indigestion when it comes to the Super Cup".
