UEFA sets Super Cup tickets on sale, Bayern to receive 3,000 passes

By Peter Vice

In principle, up to three thousand FC Bayern München fans can make the trip to Budapest to watch their team compete in person on September 24th. Just how many will brave the restrictions to watch the exhibition will prove interesting.

In a move intent on demonstrating its ability to execute the 2020 Super Cup with fans, UEFA announced the online availability of 6,000 tickets for fans wishing to attend the September 24th encounter. Apportionment will be split down the middle with UCL winners FC Bayern München and UEL champions FC Sevilla receiving 3,000 passes a piece. UEFA will work with both clubs to distribute tickets beginning on Thursday.

The move keeps with the organization’s intent to allow the Puskas Arena in Budapest to operate at 30 percent capacity for the match. Familiar restrictions, such as a temperature check before entering the stadium, cordoned off seats to maintain social distancing guidelines, madatory stops at designated hand sanitizing stations, and a mask mandate when moving from one’s designated seat will apply.

New incoming travel restrictions, disclosed last week by the Hungarian government, threatened to hamper the execution of the annual exhibition. Indeed, the measures required of traveling fans may still deter many from making the trip.

Travelers entering Hungary must undergo a mandatory medical examination upon arrival. Additionally, documentation of a negative corona test conducted no earlier than 72 hours prior must be submitted in both English and Hungarian.

UEFA’s website lists prices for the tickets between €30 and €120.
