Nürnberg Arbitration Court ends DFB Pokal dispute: Schalke vs. Schweinfurt on November 3rd

A six-week long dispute concerning Schalke's opening round DFB-Pokal opponent appears to finally be settled.

Die Königsblauen are now scheduled to face FC Schweinfurt on November 3rd at 16:30.
A special arbitration court in Nürnberg ruled on Tuesday evening that the Bavarian Amateur Football Association (BFV) had brokered a fair compromise last spring. Faced with a suspended season, the BFV opted to promote first-place Türkügücü München to Germany's third Bundesliga while allowing second place FC Schweinfurt to participate in the country's domestic cup.

All parties are bound to the ruling by a special arbitration agreement. It is thus impossible for Türkgücü to appeal the ruling through any other judicial institutions. After a state appeals court ruled Schweinfurt's registration invalid at the end of September, the BFV opted to argue its case before an arbitration court.

It is now theoretically possible for the draw for the second round of the 2020/21 DFB Pokal to be held on the presumed date of November 8th, but the German FA has not confirmed this yet.
