After spending months warming the bench, Mahmoud Dahoud has found himself back in favor in recent weeks, starting Borussia Dortmund's last two games.

In an interview with BVB TV, the central midfielder has reflected on what has been a difficult campaign for him.

"It isn't easy when you haven't played for a long time. You try to get back in the groove, you just try to play, you try to get more confidence," said Dahoud.

"You always have motivation in every game. Every minute I've been out there on the pitch, I've had lots of motivation, and I've given everything, even if it doesn't always work because you aren't in your routine.

"Now that I'm back playing, I'm trying to improve my performances."

Dahoud joined Dortmund from Gladbach in 2017, and his contract still runs for another year.
