Robert Lewandowski has spoken highly of Julian Nagelsmann in the wake of the confirmation that the RB Leipzig coach will replace Hansi Flick at Bayern München at the end of the season.

"I don't know Julian Nagelsmann that well, but what I can say is that he always manages to lift teams to a level you wouldn't expect them to reach," Lewandowski told Sport Bild and added:

"Under Nagelsmann, teams usually perform above expectations, above the sum of the quality of the individual players."

In the same interview, Lewandowski also found praise for departing Bayern coach Hansi Flick.

"He's not only a great coach, but also a great person," emphasized Lewandowski and went on:

"You can always talk about private things with him as well. We achieved something historic under Flick.

"This has by far been my best period at Bayern. He always gave us a clear plan of what he expected."
