Mario Götze is yet to play a Bundesliga minute this season and has started Borussia Dortmund's first three league games on the bench under Lucien Favre.

The lack of playing time had led to a lot of speculation about Götze's future at the club, but now, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has had enough.

"Just leave Mario alone! I know that he will still be important to us. I also know that Lucien Favre thinks highly of him. We still have plenty of games, and he will help us with his abilities," Watzke told Bild and added:

"Mario is doing everything right, is very focused, offers himself, doesn't let up and is an important part of the team."

Yesterday, former German international Lothar Matthäus and Eintracht Frankfurt boss Fredi Bobic said during a TV show that Götze need to find a new club to get his career back on track.

"Götze hasn't been a regular anywhere during the past four years, so now he has to think about how his career will continue," Matthäus said.

Götze made 32 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions last season, scoring two goals and making seven assists.
