Kimmich was deployed at wing-back in Germany's 7-1 friendly victory over Latvia yesterday, and the 26-year-old would be willing to stay in that role if needed, although he has made it clear in the past that he prefers to play in central midfield.

"As long as we win our games, I don't really care whether I play on the right-hand side or down the middle," Kimmich told Sportschau.

Germany kick off their Euro campaign against reigning world champions France on 15 June.
