Thomas Müller has criticized Joachim Löw's tactics at the Euro 2020 following Germany's exit to England in the round of 16.

"With our efforts to keep clean sheets with our rather hesitant, compact, defensive tactics, we have de facto failed," Müller wrote in his monthly newsletter.

Despite playing with five at the back, Germany conceded seven goals, with two of them coming in their 2-0 defeat against England, in which the two teams neutralized each other with their five-man backlines, according to Müller.

"In a game like that, the team that score the first goal often win," stated Müller, who spurned a great chance to make it 1-1 towards the end of the game.

The 31-year-old also made it clear that he will be quick to move on from the disappointment of the England defeat.

"I always try to turn a sporting disappointment like this into additional positive energy. As always, I want and have to prove myself. I generally have motivation and ambition to a sufficient degree."
