Report: Kagawa wanted move to Spain

Borussia Dortmund's Shinji Kagawa reportedly wanted a transfer to Spain during the summer. But a transfer never materialised.

Shinji Kagawa was eager to join one of the three biggest clubs in Spain - FC Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atlético Madrid - during the summer, Kicker understands.

However, apparently, neither of the clubs were really interested in the 29-year-old Japanese international who ultimately stayed at Borussia Dortmund.

Kagawa has been limited to just three appearances under Lucien Favre and is currently sidelined with ankle problems. His contract runs out in 2020.

The 29-year-old left Borussia Dortmund to join Manchester United in 2012, but then rejoined the BVB in 2014.
