After a thrilling penalty shootout win over Spain to seal UEFA Nations League glory, Bayern and Portugal's João Palhinha spoke to the media.

The holding midfielder, familiar with the final's venue of the Allianz Arena, stated he would love compatriot Nuno Mendes to say in Bavaria.

“If it were up to me, he would stay here [in Munich] right now, I certainly wouldn't let him fly away.

“What Nuno did and has been doing is extraordinary. For me he's clearly the best full-back in the world,” he added.

Palhinha, who endured a difficult first season at Die Reordmeister with limited game time, is optimistic he can turn things around.

“I want to be happy here at FC Bayern. I just want to get chances to show and prove myself. I want to play, win titles, and be happy,” he said.
