St. Pauli's Hürzeler linked with Brighton head-coaching position

Britain's Telegraph newspaper reports that FC St. Pauli head-coach Fabian Hürzeler may be in line to succeed Roberto De Zerbi at EPL side Brighton & Hove Albion.

A report emerging in the British media links German head-coach Fabian Hürzeler with the now vacant head-coaching position at EPL side Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls are in need of a new gaffer following Roberto de Zerbi's departure via mutual consent. Britain's Telegraph newspaper posits what is a plausible rumor. There are several factors that might see Hürzeler move to the Isle.

The 31-year-old trainer of newly promoted Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli has labelled de Zerbi as one of his personal role models. Moreover, Hürzeler has made no secret of his fondness for English football. In reporting on the rumor for German footballing magazine Kicker, journalist Sebastian Wolff notes that the German club cannot substantiate the rumor at this time.

Wolff can confirm that Hürzeler does not have an exit clause in his current contract. This means that a transfer fee would be due to the Hamburg-based side should their trainer wish to make the switch. St. Pauli earned promotion back to Germany's top footballing flight for the first time in 13 years by capturing the 2. Bundesliga crown this spring.
