Sammer on Dortmund's semi-final win: "They deserved that bit of luck"

Matthias Sammer has hailed Borussia Dortmund's semi-final performance against Paris Saint-Germain, saying they deserved the bit of luck they needed to reach the final.

Borussia Dortmund are in the Champions League final for the first time since 2013 after a 1-0 win away against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, which sent them through 2-0 on aggregate.

Paris Saint-Germain hit the woodwork on several occasions throughout the game, but couldn't find the back of the net and were ultimately eliminated.

According to Borussia Dortmund advisor of management Matthias Sammer, who was part of the BVB team that won the Champions League in 1997, they earned the luck that helped them through.

“I think it was an honest performance from Dortmund,” Sammer said, according to UEFA.com.

“They always say that you need that little bit of luck if you want to reach a final. But they deserved that bit of luck. They played very passionately.”

Dortmund will face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the final on 1 June.
