Schalke pick up Antwi-Adjei on a free

German second division side FC Schalke 04 confirmed the pickup of German footballing veteran Christopher Antwi-Adjei on Friday afternoon.

Among the players departing 2023/24 promotion-relegation playoff winners VfL Bochum on an expiring contract this summer, veteran German winger Christopher Antwi-Adjei will head to Gelsenkirchen to continue his career. The 30-year-old - whom Bochum were not necessarily disinterested in re-signing - moved to 2. Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 on a free transfer Friday afternoon.

The Hagen-native brings with him the experience of 113 top flight appearances for Bochum and SC Paderborn 07. After former German national team representative Amin Younes, Antwi-Adjei is the second player with extensive top flight experience that die Königsblauen have signed this summer. Schalke have been very active on the transfer market lately, introducing four new signings in the last four days.

"I'm proud to wear the royal blue jersey on the pitch in the future," Antwi-Ajdei noted in a club-released statement, During the talks, those responsible explained to me exactly how I can help the team with my qualities and experience. That's precisely what I want to show the fans.”
