It appears as though Nico Schlotterbeck will remain a Borussia Dortmund player beyond summer, Sky Germany reports.

The German centre-half spoke of his fondness for the club and his desire to achieve more in black and yellow.

“I’m really happy to be here and know what it means to play for the club. BVB remains my first point of contact.

“In the summer, we’ll sit down with the club’s management and my family and discuss the plan for the next few years.

“I hope we can achieve something good. This club is capable of much more.

“Playing internationally is what defines this club, because it’s become a habit over the years.

“But I also have to look at what I’ve done to ensure we’re not in a position where we are talking about the top four. I want to play internationally, preferably with BVB,” he added.

Schlotterbeck underlined his importance to BVB on Sunday by providing two assists in in their 3-1 win over high-flying Mainz.
