U21 stars to train with German senior squad

German U21 internationals Brajan Gruda and Rocco Reitz will get the chance to train with the senior squad ahead of Euro 2024.

When the German national team begin their preparations for Euro 2024 this weekend in Thuringia, they will be joined by two U21 prospects.

The German Football Association has confirmed that Gladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz and Mainz winger Brajan Gruda will train with the senior side until next Friday.

“Some of our players still have club football in the DFB-Pokal and Champions League finals and will be joining us later," said Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann.

"We’d like to give these two young prospects a chance to show what they can do in the senior side so that the squad can train optimally in the early stages of preparation, even if one or two of them are out injured. Many thanks to U21 coach Antonio Di Salvo for our positive discussions and close cooperation.”

The German national team will move to their Euro 2024 team base camp in Herzogenaurach on May 31.

They will play warm-up matches against Ukraine (June 3) and Greece (June 7) before opening the Euroz against Scotland on June 14.
