At Werder Bremen's annual general meeting on Monday evening, it was announced that Danish midfielder Jens Stage has signed a new contract with the club.

The length of the new deal hasn't been revealed.

“Jens extending his contract is another important signal for the team and the entire club. It underlines the fact that something is developing here, something that the players can identify with and want to be a part of," said Werder's head of professional football, Peter Niemeyer.

Stage, who joined Werder from FC Copenhagen in the summer of 2022, commented:

“Playing with this team for Werder is really enjoyable right now. We’ve developed constantly as a side since I’ve been in Bremen. We’ve got a clear plan and always want to improve, and I want to be a part of that."

Playing as a central midfielder, Stage leads Werder's Bundesliga scoring charts with four goals so far this season.
