André Silva was first introduced to Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt. With 28 goals in the 2020-21 season, he sets a new record for a Frankfurt player in Bundesliga. During this time, he was a regular fixture for Portugal's national team.

After Alexander Sørloth’s unsuccessful spell at Red Bull Arena, Leipzig signed him for €23.00 million in 2021. He played over 30 games in both of his first two seasons, but Leipzig decided to move on to their next target by loaning him out to Real Sociedad last season.

Back to his familiar surroundings, André Silva is yet to start a league this season. Incidentally, the 4-2 win over Bremen marks his solitary appearance since the turn of the year.

Peter Niemeyer, head of professional football, conceded the rough patch helped them to sign the player. Niemeyer mentioned the striker’s vast Bundesliga experience will help him to quickly integrate into Ole Werner’s team.

Werner hails Silva’s presence inside the box as he welcomes an additional option in the attacking department. For his part, Silva looks forward to a fresh start as he wants to play a part in Bremen’s strong season.

Over his 129 Bundesliga appearances, Silva scored 56 goals for Frankfurt and Leipzig. He last appeared for Portugal in the 2022 World Cup.
