Maximilian Mittelstädt: Hertha's 0-5 loss to Köln 'shouldn't happen'

Maximilian Mittelstädt found it difficult to find the right words after Hertha's abysmal 0-5 loss to FC Köln at home.
Hertha BSC must try to put their disastrous 0-5 loss to FC Köln at home behind them, says Maximilian Mittelstädt.

"It's difficult to find the right words just after a game like this," Mittelstädt said after the the Bundesliga game on Saturday.

"A lot of things went wrong. We didn't do what we had planned, conceded two unnecessary goals early on and then didn't manage to come back. We have to put this game behind us quickly and concentrate on the next tasks. A game like this shouldn't happen, but we have to move on," the Hertha defender added.

Niklas Stark was disappointed that Hertha weren't able to put their game plan into operation.

"We had set ourselves a lot of goals and wanted the three points by all means. But I realize that you couldn't see that from the outside. Köln simply succeeded in everything. When you're trailing by two or three goals so early, it starts messing with your head. And if you don't score the next goal, but instead concede for the fourth time, it's hard," the Hertha captain said before concluding:

"It was a shitty game, and it simply wasn't our day. Nevertheless, we have to stick together as a team now and make sure we win the next game."
