Former Germany and Bayern Munich star Oliver Kahn made headlines earlier this week when he advised Jamal Musiala to skip the World Cup, arguing that the 23-year-old hasn’t been at his best since returning from the serious injury he suffered at the Club World Cup last summer.

However, Musiala delivered a clear response on the pitch with a goal and an assist in Bayern’s 5-0 win over St. Pauli on Saturday – and followed it up with an equally clear answer off the pitch when speaking to Sky Germany (via iMiaSanMia) after the game.

“I didn’t read what he (Kahn) said, but I definitely want to go to the World Cup. My focus right now is on helping FC Bayern win everything and then I want to help my country in the summer,” Musiala underlined.

The German international felt he took another step towards his best form in Saturday’s win.

“I felt very good today. It was a good game. I had better actions and scored a goal. I’m happy with the performance," said the German attacking midfielder.

“I’m taking every minute I can; every game does me a lot of good. Today was a step forward, but there’s still a way to go. My foot feels freer than a few weeks and months ago. I just need a bit more patience.”
