A lot has been made of Lennart Karl's chances of making Germany's World Cup squad this summer, but he may have just boosted those odds in tonight's 2-1 win over Ghana.

“Lenny made a great impression in both games. He's a very good player," said Germany's head coach Julian Nagelsmann is his post-match press conference in Stuttgart.

"That was a small step forward [against Ghana tonight]. Now I hope he stays humble, keeps pushing and gets a few more appearances at Bayern Munich.

“Of all the young players we've had here [in the March camp] so far, he's been one of the best,” Nagelsmann added, underlining how highly he thinks of the 18-year-old prodigy.

True to Nagelsmann's word, Karl did have an impressive 30-minute cameo off the bench on the right flank – you can find Karl's and his teammates player ratings from the game here.
