Bayer Leverkusen thrashed VfL Wolfsburg 6-3 at the weekend, but the win wasn't as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.

In fact, Die Werkself found themselves 1-3 down in the first half before turning things around in a remarkable fashion.

Alex Grimaldo, who scored Leverkusen’s first two goals, was far from satisfied despite the win, with sixth-placed Bayer still four points adrift of Stuttgart in the race for the Champions League-qualifying fourth spot.

“This has nothing to do with tactics or quality. It’s about what we want: we want to be back in the Champions League next season. We’ve made many mistakes this season; that has to change. We have to do better,” Grimaldo told Bild.

Asked if Leverkusen have a concentration problem, Grimaldo replied:

"Yes, maybe. We have to stay focused on the game. 20 or 45 good minutes are not enough. How we played in the second half has to be the way. If we play like that, we can beat any team in Europe. But we have to play well for the full 90 minutes.”

Leverkusen and Grimaldo now face a tough test on Saturday, traveling to Signal Iduna Park to take on Borussia Dortmund.
