The heated derby between Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe will be played on Sunday in 2. Bundesliga. Both teams are currently in the top half of the standings with very little to play for in the rest of the season, but Torsten Lieberknecht tried to fire up his team with controversial statements ahead of the game.

Marlon Ritter’s injury-time strike helped Kaiserslautern to a 3-2 victory in the reverse fixture after Karlsruhe initially came from two goals behind. The Red Devils are unbeaten in the last three head-to-head fixtures against Karlsruhe.

Karlsruhe dramatically took a point from going 3-1 down at home against Dynamo Dresden last week, while Kaiserslautern were beaten by Uwe Rösler’s Bochum. The visitors will be level on points with their hosts if they come out victorious in the derby.

Predicted Lineups

Kaiserslautern: Krahl; Sirch, Gyamfi, Kim; Joly, Sahin, Kunze, Kleinhansl; Skyttä, Ritter ©; Bassette

Karlsruhe: Bernat; Ambrosius, Franke, Kobald; Jung, Kwon, Herold; Burnic, Wanitzek ©; Ben Farhat, Simic
