Bayern agree personal terms with "top transfer target", per Sky

Bayern Munich are understood to have reached an agreement in principle with Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha on a summer move.

Last summer, Thomas Tuchel pushed for Bayern Munich to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham before the close of the transfer window, but the deal ultimately fell through.

Although Tuchel is no longer Bayern's head coach, it now appears that Palhinha could be on his way to the Bavarians.

According to Sky Germany, Bayern have agreed personal terms with Palhinha, with new coach Vincent Kompany, sporting director Christoph Freund and managing director for sport Max Eberl all convinced by the Portugal international, who is currently their “top transfer target”.

Having reached an agreement in principle with the Palhinha camp, Bayern are now understood to be in contact with Fulham.

According to the report, the Bavarians are hoping to bring the price down from the €60-70 million that was on the table last year to between €40 and €45 million.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder made 39 appearances for Fulham in the 2023/24 season, scoring four goals and providing one assist. He's part of Portugal's squad for Euro 2024.
