Facts about Dortmund's qualification for the Champions League final
Borussia Dortmund booked their place in the Champions League final at Wembley on Tuesday, beating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 at the Parc des Princes to secure a 2-0 aggregate victory.
It's the third time Borussia Dortmund have reached the final of the Champions League, having previously done so in 1997 and 2013.
Edin Terzic is the third Borussia Dortmund coach to lead the club to the Champions League final after Ottmar Hitzfeld (1997) and Jürgen Klopp (2013).
Borussia Dortmund won their only Champions League trophy to date in the 1996-97 season, beating Juventus 3-1 in the final at the Olympiastadion in Munich.
Karl-Heinz Riedle put Dortmund 2-0 up at the break, with Alessandro del Piero pulling one back for Juventus in the 65th minute, before Lars Ricken sealed the victory for BVB in the 71st minute.
The Black and Yellows had to wait 16 years to return to the final, booking their place with a 4-3 aggregate victory over Real Madrid in the semifinals.
This time, however, Dortmund didn't manage to win the final, losing 2-1 to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich at Wembley.
The match was level when Ilkay Gündogan cancelled out Mario Mandzukic's opener from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, but Arjen Robben's 89th-minute winner secured victory for the Bavarians.
If Bayern can knock Real Madrid out of the other semifinal on Wednesday, the two Bundesliga rivals will meet again in the second all-German Champions League final in history and, curiously, in the same place as in 2013, Wembley Stadium in London.
