Grillitsch set to leave Hoffenheim for the second time

In a surprise deadline day switch, Florian Grillitsch is heading to La Liga’s bottom-placed team Real Valladolid.

Florian Grillitsch’s chapter at TSG Hoffenheim seemed to be closed when he joined Ajax on a free transfer in 2022. But, a year later, he was back in his familiar surroundings after an unsuccessful spell in Eredivisie.

Despite Hoffenheim’s poor spell, the lanky midfielder quickly found his form back in Bundesliga. However, the 29-year-old is yet to play under Christian Ilzer. Despite his return to full fitness from ligament injury, Hoffenheim’s latest coach decided to not even include him on matchday squads.

Brazil legend Ronaldo has owned the majority of Real Valladolid since 2018. After their promotion to LaLiga, the White and Violets are languishing at the bottom of the standings. They’re currently eight points behind 17th–placed Espanyol.

The transfer will be a dry loan until the end of the season. Sky Germany report Grillitsch turned down offers from Bundesliga clubs and SC Braga.
