Kimmich hits out at Bayern: "Trust has been broken"

With only one year left on his contract, Joshua Kimmich's future with Bayern Munich remains unclear - and the new ZDF documentary "Joshua Kimmich: Anführer und Antreiber" doesn't seem to increase the chances of an extension.
In the documentary, Kimmich reveals how hurt he was when the club didn't support him during the pandemic when it was revealed that he hadn't been vaccinated.
“I felt left alone for too long. I've been at the club for almost seven years now and there have not been many scandals surrounding me. That was the first downturn (the vaccination debate), that's when I noticed how the club reacted and I am accordingly disappointed and also hurt,” said Kimmich (via @iMiaSanMia).
“I extended my contract [in August 2021] with the aim of winning the Champions League twice with the club in the next four years . I still want to do that. But nevertheless, the feeling of trust that I had in the club before has of course been broken. I never know what will be leaked to the public when I speak to one person or another. It's not like trust can be rebuilt over one or two conversations,” added Kimmich, who received his vaccine eventually.
When Julian Nagelsmann was suddenly sacked as Bayern coach in March last year and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, Kimmich was one of the players who criticized the decision.
And he still struggles to understand why the club decided to let Nagelsmann go.
“I don't agree that the coach lost the dressing room. You can justify the dismissal by saying that he was not successful in the Bundesliga, but it wasn't the case that we players were constantly complaining about the coach. I think the communication should have been handled differently,” said the German international.
