Kompany gives fresh injury update on Neuer and speaks on possible rotation
Manuel Neuer was taken off at halftime of Bayern Munich's 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Afterwards, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said the substitution was a precaution. Neuer also downplayed the injury, describing it as a "minor" thigh problem.
At a press conference on Friday, Kompany gave a fresh update on Neuer, saying "it looks good" with a view to Saturday's game.
“Manuel Neuer should join training today and we'll decide after that. We'll discuss it together. We didn't want to take any risks against Zagreb but it looks good,” said Kompany, who otherwise had nothing new to report on the personnel front.
With Bayern having already played a game this week, Kompany wouldn't rule out changes against Werder.
“We want to use the entire squad. It wouldn't be possible without every player. I can't say if I'll make a lot of changes tomorrow. The squad isn't a luxury, we need it to achieve our goals. Names aren't important, the boys have to fight for their place,” he said.
