Werder Bremen vs Bayern München preview: Visitors to continue goalscoring form

Werder Bremen host record champions Bayern München after a fantastic win with ten men against Mainz last weekend. Bayern enter the fixture having scored 15 goals in the last week against Holstein Kiel and Dinamo Zagreb.

Werder Bremen

After an entertaining 0-0 draw with Borussia Dortmund prior to the international break, Bremen secured their first three points of the campaign last time out at the MEWA Arena against Mainz.

Die Grün-Weißen provided a huge shock after going down to ten men in the second half due to Marco Friedl's sending-off. Just nine minutes later, Derrick Köhn found the net for Ole Werner's side, who left Rheinland-Phalz with all three points.

Werder have been able to avoid defeat in their last nine competitive outings, winning five and drawing four.

Team News

The hosts will be without Marco Friedl after his sending-off against Mainz, whilst Werner will also be unable to call upon Justin Njinmah, Milos Valjkovic, Oliver Burke and Olivier Deman.

Bayern München

Opponents Bayern München go into the weekend having scored 15 goals during the space of the last seven days, beating Holstein Kiel 6-1 and Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in the Champions League.

Master marksman Harry Kane also scored four times in Europe, overtaking Wayne Rooney as the highest-scoring Englishman in the history of the Champions League.

Vincent Kompany's side returns to Bundesliga action after dispatching Kiel by six goals to one last time out, with the recent goal return giving a timely boost for the Belgian coach after early criticisms following dysfunctional performances against Wolfsburg and Freiburg.

Bayern have won all five of their games this season, scoring 24 goals and conceding five times.

Team News

Manuel Neuer will face a late fitness test for this weekend, whilst Daniel Peretz is also a doubt. Arijon Ibrahimovic, Hiroki Ito, Josip Stanisic, Sacha Boey and Tarek Buchmann will also all miss out through injury.
