Twenty-three-year-old defender Frederik Jäkel's loan-out to 2. Bundesliga side SV Elversberg has been extended for another year. As part of the renewal, Jäkel's contract with his parent club RB Leipzig has been extended by a further year. Jäkel enjoyed a successful season in the German second division until an injury cut short his 2023/24 season in February.

Prior to the ACL tear that sidelined him, the Dommitzsch-native had started 16 of 18 fixtures from match-day five onwards. In a statement accompanying the news, SVE sporting director Ole Brook described Jäkel as "an absolute asset to our team as both a player and a person". Jäkel himself described his time in Saarland as "consistently positive".
