In a video released by Mainz on Saturday evening, Nadiem Amiri publicly committed his future to the 05ers, confirming that he will stay at the club for at least the upcoming season despite strong interest elsewhere this summer.

Speaking in the video, Amiri said:

“A lot has been written in recent weeks. I also had a lot of offers. But I decided with my family that I would definitely stay here.”

The announcement comes as a major boost for Mainz ahead of the new campaign, with the influential midfielder choosing to remain despite attracting significant attention during the transfer window.

Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel was delighted about Amiri's news while speaking to Sky Sport: “I'm thrilled for us. Nadiem's a great guy. It just fits. Honestly, though, I didn't expect anything else but for him to stay.”

According to Bild, Amiri had already reached an agreement with RB Leipzig earlier in the summer. However, the move has ultimately fallen through, with the Germany international opting to continue his career in Mainz instead.

Amiri remains under contract with Mainz until 2028.
