Will Neuer return from injury against Leverkusen?

Manuel Neuer is in a race against time to be fit for Bayern Munich's crunch clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

When Bayern Munich welcome reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen to the Allianz Arena on Saturday, Vincent Kompany will naturally be hoping to send out the best possible team.

However, it remains questionable whether the club's first-choice goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, will be fit to play.

As Bild reported on Tuesday morning, Neuer is not yet fit enough to take part in team training.

Instead, the 38-year-old veteran completed a session on the treadmill in the fitness room at the Säbener Strasse.

He appeared to be in a good mood watching his teammates train from the window, but the report left open whether he will be fit for the Leverkusen game.

Neuer picked up the injury in Bayern's 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb, coming off at half-time for Sven Ulreich.

Ulreich remained in goal for Bayern's 5-0 win over Werder Bremen at the weekend, with Neuer left out of the squad due to the injury.
