RB Leipzig defender Marcel Halstenberg has revealed his injury denied him the chance to join Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window.

"There was contact, but the whole thing wasn't feasible, mainly because of my injury," said Halstenberg in an interview with the Leipziger Volkszeitung.

The left-back is yet to make an appearance this season due to a knee injury, but isn't fearing for his career.

"I'm 30, not 40. There's still something to come. It's not over yet, and I will play for RB again," he said.

Halstenberg's Leipzig contract expires at the end of the season, at which point he is likely to leave the club on a free transfer.
