With less than a year left on his Borussia Mönchengladbach contract, Matthias Ginter has told Kicker that his future is still up in the air.

The situation is "the way it is" due to the financial implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the centre-back.

"A year ago, I would blindly have extended my contract because the club was and is important to me," he added.

"It's insanely tricky right now. To predict anything now is difficult. It's all open."

Bayern München are among the clubs thought to be interested in Ginter, who has played for Gladbach since 2017.
