RB Leipzig beat City, seal Europa League place

RB Leipzig will be transferred to the Europa League after finishing third in Group A of the Champions League.
RB Leipzig will continue their European campaign in the Europa League after finishing third in Group A of the Champions League.

'Die Roten Bullen', who sacked head coach Jesse Marsch on Sunday after falling to a third straight Bundesliga defeat, ensured a third-place finish this evening, taking a 2-1 win over Manchester City, who had already won the group.

Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring for Leipzig midway through the first half, with André Silva doubling the lead with 71 minutes played.

Manchester City then pulled one back through Riyad Mahrez, but the English champions' hopes of a comeback suffered a blow when Kyle Walker was shown a straight red card for catching André Silva from behind, and they never managed to find the equaliser.
