Report: Tyler Adams a topic for Rangnick and Man U

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic reports that USMNT team captain Tyler Adams may be on the short-list of Manchester United transfer targets.

RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams may be on his way out of the Bundesliga. Manchester United trainer Ralf Rangnick, who is largely credited with overseeing the best establishment phase of the RB system's German affiliate, understandably looks to the team he spent four years running for January reinforcements. Rangnick has long been an admirer of Adams, whom he recruited to the club in January 2019.

It was revealed in November that, along with seven other current RB professionals, Adams has an exit clause in his contract. The American's is thought to total some €40 million. This serves as the biggest obstacle to a deal potentially taking place this winter. The sides may nevertheless wish to hammer something out as it's unclear as to whether Adams will have a regular starting role under new RB trainer Domenico Tedesco.

The 22-year-old USMNT captain has made three relief appearances under the new RB coach, not featuring in the starting XI since his fellow American compatriot Jesse Marsch was sacked earlier this month. Gregg Berhalter tapped Adams as the new USMNT captain this past October; a huge responsibility for a team that will return to the FIFA World Cup after an eight-year-hiatus in less than a year's time.
