Woo-Yeong Jeong extends Freiburg deal

The Bundesliga's third-placed club signed one of its regular attackers to a contract extension on Tuesday.
South Korean international Woo-Yeong Jeong hopes to call Germany's Black Forest home through well beyond the end of next season. The 22-year-old former FC Bayern München youth academy product already had a contract with the Breisgauer through 2023, but it was rumored that this working paper contained a priority buyback option for the FCB.

The 22-year-old has become a regular under SCF trainer Christian Streich this season. While he's sometimes suffered from a lack of finishing luck, Jeong has scored three Bundesliga goals in the campaign. Two of these came in an important round three fixture that helped Freiburg set the tone for their incredible first half of the season.

"Woo-Yeong has simply taken to his development this year," Freiburg personnel boss Klemens Hartenbach said in a statement, "In addition his footballing skills, he brings a lot of energy and intensity to the pitch; attributes that embody our style of play."

"I feel very comfortable with my club," Jeong said in his own statement, "I'm pleased with both my own personal development and the team's strong first half to the season. I wish to build on that and achieve as much as is possible with SC Freiburg."
