18-year-old Florian Wirtz's impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen have seen him linked with some of Europe's biggest clubs.

Leverkusen managing director for sport Rudi Völler, however, still expects the youngster to stay for a while.

"Not only because of his contract situation, but also because of the trust we have built up with him and his family, we know that he will be in good hands here for several years. We want Florian to stay with us for a few more years," Völler said in an interview with Bild.

"That's important for us and for the whole Bundesliga. And I think it's also his plan," Völler said.

Wirtz has scored eight goals and provided 11 assists in 21 games this season.

The attacking midfielder's contract with Leverkusen runs until 2026.
