Baumgart on Modeste: "Tony isn't responsible for the crisis in Dortmund"

Anthony Modeste failed yet again to make many meaningful contributions in Dortmund's loss to Köln, as Steffen Baumgart tried to stand up for his former striker.
Speaking with Bild TV, Köln coach Steffen Baumgart defended Anthony Modeste and stated, "I don't think it's okay what's hitting him. Tony isn't responsible for the crisis in Dortmund, they're excuses. Strikers are dependent on the people behind them, it's no different with us."

Baumgart added that, "I told him to stay with himself and not accept anything that was being said."

Modeste has started every game since his move from Köln to BVB in August, but has only scored one goal. Many Dortmund supporters would like to see Youssoufa Moukoko receive a starting nod over the 34-year-old striker.

Dortmund begin a daunting month ahead with games against Sevilla and Bayern Munich this week.
