It was expected to be a high-flying affair between Frankfurt and Gladbach, but Saturday night turned out to be a fairly one-sided contest. With three goals in the first half, Frankfurt cruised past Gladbach for a massive 3-1 away victory.

Frankfurt were quickly off to the perfect start following Jesper Lindstrøm's goal in the 6th minute. It was an electric first quarter hour of play with both sides creating one-on-one chances on goal in the opening minutes.

Several early yellow cards were handed out with tempers rising and harsh tackles seen throughout the first half. Oliver Glasner's side then added a 2nd through PSG loanee Junior Dina Ebimbe's powerful 29th minute header that left Tobias Sippel helpless in goal.

Eintracht kept rolling, as Lindstrøm secured his brace by converting Randal Kolo Muani's pass to completely shock Gladbach and their home supporters. The goal ended the half and earned Frankfurt a well-deserved 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Gladbach struggled to create chances in the second period and couldn't find a way past Frankfurt's back-line. Manu Kone probably should've been sent off with a second yellow card after a challenge on Sebastian Rode, displaying Gladbach's growing frustration.

Marcus Thuram took advantage of a rare Frankfurt mistake to finally get Gladbach on the board in the 72nd minute. Then, the game was stopped for about ten minutes due to issues surrounding the overhead 'spider cam' on the pitch.

Once play resumed, Daniel Farke's side still couldn't find a way to seriously challenge Kevin Trapp in extra time.

9th-place Gladbach travel to league leaders Union Berlin next weekend, while 4th-place Frankfurt host Marseille and Dortmund next week.
