Confirmed: Hertha also secure Reese on a free for next season

Hertha BSC confirmed their second capture of an attacking reinforcement on Wednesday afternoon.

Just as was the case with Florian Niederlechner yesterday, however, Holstein Kiel's Fabian Reese won't be headed to Charlottenburg until after the season.
Fabian Reese's transfer to Hertha BSC is through. After some conflicting reports, there is also now clarity on how and when the 25-year-old willl join his new club. Reese, just like Augsburg attacker Florian Niederlechner, shall transfer to Hertha on a free after the season. No transfer fees are due to Kiel. The winger's new contract with his new club runs through 2026.

"Fabian has developed very well in recent seasons and played himself into the focus of some clubs," Hertha sporting CEO Fredi Bobic noted in a statement accompanying the signing, "We're delighted that he's chosen Hertha. He's a fast, dynamic striker who can make his mark in both on the flanks and in the center."

Reese has netted five goals and registered four assists for his 2. Liga side this year. Presumably, negotiations on a modest transfer fee of less than €1 million fell through during ongoing talks between Bobic and the north German club.
