Lindstrøm out for Darmstadt, Glasner considers start for Borré

By Peter Weis   @PeterVicey

At a Monday presser, Eintracht Frankfurt head-coach Oliver Glasner confirmed that one of his attack's biggest "live-wires" will be out for tomorrow's Pokal match against regional rivals SV Darmstadt 98.

Glasner confirmed that he was thinking about starting Colombian striker Rafael Santos Borré in the Dane's place.

Glasner also commented on midfield/defensive rotations and provided an update on the personnel battles at his fullback/wingback positions.

Eintracht Frankfurt trainer Oliver Glaser provided personnel updates ahead of tomorrow evening's DFB Pokal fixture against SV Darmstadt 98 at a Monday presser. The Rhein-Main Eagles will head into the round-of-16 showdown with Hessen rivals without Jesper Lindstrøm. The Dane is troubled by muscle tightening in one of his thighs. Glasner emphasized that it shouldn't be a long term problem and that he expected Lindstrøm back in time to face Köln over the weekend.

The loss of Lindstrøm may hand discontented striker Rafael Santos Borré a start. Understandably upset after having lost his starting spot to French sensation Randal Kolo Muani, Borré has still been a beast off the bench in the new calendar year. The Cafetero has proven impactful in all four occasions Glasner has turned to him off the bench. He netted a late goal against Schalke on matchday 16. It's possible that Borré could start alongside Muani in a two-striker set.

Glasner made clear that he was considering several options.

"He [Borré] is a serious candidate," Glasner noted at his Monday pre-match press conference, "We also have the option of placing [Daichi] Kamada up the pitch, as we did in the second half in Lisbon [in the Champions League]. We could also use penalty area striker in Lucas Alario and then moving Kolo Muani down to short striker, as was done with his national team. We'll see how I choose."

Glasner confirmed some of his already discussed normal squad rotations. Veteran Sebastian Rode, Glasner specifically stated, will start alongside Djibril Sow in midfield tomorrow against the Lillies. Kamada worked alongside Sow against Hertha on Saturday. Veteran back-three actor Makoto Hasebe - who also started against Hertha - will presumably make way for Hrvoje Smolcic.

As for who will serve as the regular right fullback/wingback opposite Philipp Max, Glasner gave every indication that he felt Aurelio Buta has permanently supplanted Ansgar Knauff. Two weeks after scoring his inaugural Bundesliga goal, the 25-year-old added another late tally in Saturday's 3-0 victory over "die alte Dame".

"I'm a bit surprised that he's playing so consistently at the level now after being out for so long," Glasner said of Buta, "He's had 40 sprints, most of them against Hertha. We noticed that he's totally euphoric. I noticed that the lad flies over the training ground. And if someone flies, then you should let him fly."
