Kehl comments on links to Kamada and Bensebaini, addresses futures of Bellingham, Reus and Hummels
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has commented on reports linking Daichi Kamada and Ramy Bensebaini with the club and provided an update on the futures of Jude Bellingham, Marco Reus and Mats Hummels.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has commented on reports linking the club with Eintracht Frankfurt's Daichi Kamada and Gladbach's Ramy Bensebaini, who are both out of contract this summer.
Speaking to ZDF, Kehl insisted that reports suggesting Borussia Dortmund have agreed personal terms with Kamada are "just rumors", but admitted that he sees the Japanese international as an "interesting player".
"We already had a player from Japan: Shinji Kagawa. I believe that Japanese culture is exciting in general," noted the BVB boss.
As for Bensebaini, Kehl wouldn't deny that Dortmund are interested, but insisted there is "nothing to report yet".
Asked about the possibility of keeping Jude Bellingham, who has been linked with some of Europe's biggest clubs, Kehl said:
"I can't say today what will happen in the summer. I can only say that no talks have been held with him and his family yet.
"He might come and say, 'I want to do something new.' Or maybe he'll say 'I want to stay,' and then we'll extend the deal.
"I'll try. Why not?"
For the time being, Kehl wants to concentrate on sorting out the futures of veteran duo Marco Reus and Mats Hummels, whose contracts expire at the end of the season.
"A decision beyond the summer has not yet been made. We are not ready yet," Kehl said.
"There is a clear tendency. We will make a decision in the next few weeks, not in April or May."
