A move initially reported upon last May may end up coming to fruition at the end of the current season. Nordrhein-Westfalen's main paper-of-record, the "Rheinische Post", reports that 18-year-old left-back Lukas Ullrich is set to move to Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free this season. The Hertha BSC II defender has scored four goals and pocketed two assists for the Hertha reserves this season.

Ullrich's path to the Hertha senior squad is blocked by the newly re-signed Maximilian Mittelstädt and current squad captain Marvin Plattenhardt, with whom the capital city club are now once again interested in extending. In joining the foals, the 15-times-capped German youth international would follow in the footsteps of former Hertha academy man and fellow left-back Luca Netz,

Gladbach are very much in the market for a new left-back as it is widely expected that current starter Ramy Bensebaini will leave the club on a free after his contract expires this offseason. There are even reports, albeit ones that have surfaced before, that Bensebaini is in agreement with Borussia Dortmund and that a move will be confirmed soon.

Bensebaini himself may face a prolonged suspension after an incident over the weekend led to him being sent off the pitch on double-yellows late in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Freiburg. Some sources now report that, in addition to a sardonic gesture aimed at match official Benjamin Brand, Bensebaini used derogatory language to the ref that might merit a longer suspension.
