FC Augsburg are set to hire the former Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann in an assistant coach role, Bild understands.

According to the German tabloid, Lehmann has agreed to a contract that runs until the summer of 2020.

Most recently, Lehmann spent a year as an assistant coach at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, but he lost his job after the 2017/18 season when Unai Emery took over as manager of the London club.

Lehmann, 49, played for Schalke 04, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and VfB Stuttgart during his career as a footballer. He also made 61 appearances for Germany.
