An extension of Gregor Kobel's contract with Borussia Dortmund seems to have been on the cards for some time.

There seems to be good reason to believe that the extension could be finalized soon, with Ruhr Nachrichten reporting that the goalkeeper met with Dortmund bosses Hans-oachim WAyzke and Sebastian Kehl for about an hour on Sunday.

The local paper believes that the meeting was about the final details of the desired contract extension, with a deal until at least 2027 on the table.

If he agrees to the new deal, Kobel is likely to become one of Borussia Dortmund's top earners. His current salary of €3.5 million per year could reportedly rise to €8 million.

The Black and Yellows paid a reported fee of €15 million to sign the Swiss international from Stuttgart in 2021.
