New favorite emerges for Augsburg coaching job

FC St. Gallen coach Peter Zeidler is reportedly now the frontrunner to replace Enrico Maaßen at Augsburg.
A new favorite has emerged in Augsburg's search for a new head coach, according to local publication Augsburger Allgemeine.

According to the report, current FC St. Gallen coach Peter Zeidler is now the frontrunner to replace the recently sacked Enrico Maaßen, and talks are underway with the 61-year-old.

André Breitenreiter was initially touted as the main contender for the job, but apparently he will not be taking over.

Zeidler was previously an assistant coach at Hoffenheim. He has been the head coach of several clubs, including RB Salzburg, FC Sio, FC Sochaux and FC St. Gallen, where he began his work in 2018.
