Sport Bild Report: Schröder hopes to lure Ouedraogo to Leipzig

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that RB Leipzig are emerging as favorites to sign German talent Assan Ouedraogo after the current campaign concludes.
Recently linked with German giants FC Bayern München, FC Schalke 04 midfielder Assan Ouedraogo's next destination may actually be Saxony. This is according to a report published today in Germany's main sporting tabloid. The "Sport Bild" newspaper reports that the 17-year-old German youth international is being courted by RB Leipzig.

Following Max Eberl's dismissal, the RB front office is being helmed by former Schalke sporting director Rouven Schröder. It was Schröder who drew up the German-Burkinabé's first professional contract whilst Ouedraogo rose through the S04's Knappenschmiede Academy. The youngster's fully professional working papers are scheduled to kick in upon his 18th birthday in 2024.

Ouedraogo has made nine league appearances for the Schalke senior team thus far this season and scored one league goal. His estimated market value has risen to €6 million in the latest transfermarkt update. The German tabloid contradicts a report emerging earlier from Sky Germany concerning the assumed value of the player's exit clause in his current deal.

Rather than being in the €15-20 million range, Sport Bild claims that a Bundesliga side can secure the youngster's services for around €7 million. Ouedraogo's estimated market worth has increased twelve-fold in just three months. The tabloid claims that his departure from Gelsenkirchen after the end of the current season is "almost certain".
