Schmadtke his interviewer that he observed an optimistic spirit in the team even prior to kickoff. Having only recently secured their first home win of the season (in round nine against Heidenheim), it seemed likely that the foals could treat their fans to another victory at Borussia Park.
Schmadtke told his DAZN interviewer that he could tell "that the boys were all fired up". Seoane spoke of a "wonderful evening for a coach". Seoane specifically credited his players (both starters and subs) for adhering to his "slightly different" man-marking system.
"Of course I love it when the team pulls through," Seoane said, "It was a good performance with willingness and energy. The substitutes also joined in and were present. I'm also pleased for the home fans, who had some difficult home games."
"We had a staffing shake-up before the season," Seoane continued, "A new coach and staff. Now one sees in these last three games what we're capable of. When you see our home-grown team - [Rocco] Reitz, [Luca] Netz, and [Joe] Scally - that's the way we want to go and will always go."
The 21-year-old Reitz scored his first Bundesliga goal in the win. Scally and Netz were both able to notch assists. Netz set up Franck Honorat's 3-0 in the 64th while Scally assisted on Alassane Pea's 4-0 in the 71st. Reitz's inaugural top-tier tally - the 2-0 in the 42nd - went a long way towards solidifying the result.
