In the wake of Saturday's 1-3 defeat to Fortuna Düsseldorf, in which Gladbach were behind 0-3 after just 16 minutes, the club's captain, Lars Stindl, calls for a change in mentality.
"If you go into a match in Düsseldorf like we did, it's difficult to get any points at all. We need to get back to the basics of football as quickly as possible," Stindl said in an interview with Bild and added that he wants to see more from the team in terms of
willingness to engage in duels, concentration, compactness and collaborative defending.
"Several things go wrong, and it certainly isn't just small stuff. I don't think it has anything to do with our philosophy. But if we're always running back, it will be difficult to get points," the 30-year-old said.
Gladbach are fifth in the Bundesliga after losing their fourth place to Eintracht Frankfurt who won 3-0 against Stuttgart on Sunday.
